My Core Values
I have been in education for 15 years. I currently am an instructional coach in the Shawnee Mission School District. I previously worked as an instructional facilitator in Leavenworth School District and before that was an English teacher in Olathe, Kansas. I hold a Masters in Education and a Bachelor's of Science in Education. I have worked extensively with at-risk students, special education and differentiation. I regularly travel and present professional development for schools and conferences nation-wide.
My Presentations
I have been providing professional learning opportunities for teachers for the past five years. I enjoy sharing best practices for the classroom and instructional technology. It is fun to see teachers reignite their passions as educators. My hope is that through sharing things that I research and find worked in my classroom, I can make another teacher's job easier and more enjoyable.
- I am here to impact the learning experience for educators and for students.
- My passion is learning.
- My goal is to make all new learning accessible for adult learners and for students
- My hope is that everyone will discover the passion in learning.

My Achievements
I am honored to have been my school's 2014 Teacher of the Year nominee. I completed Sophia.org's program to become a certified Flipped Classroom Teacher. I held an open house for attendees in the FlipConKS 2015 Conference and also was invited to be a presenter on "Flipping the English Classroom." I was fortunate to be part of the Flipped Learning Network's book, Flipped Learning for English Instruction, which was published in October 2015 . I was excited to contribute a vignette to my colleague, Crystal Kirch's book: Flipping with Kirch: The Ups and Downs from Inside my Flipped Classroom, published in Spring 2016. I have also contributed articles for a teaching website for a company, Air Squirrels, on the topics of technology and teaching methods. I am a Level 1 and 2 Google Certified Educator and was named Local PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator for 2016. In 2017 I became a Google for Education Certified Trainer. I recently joined a professional development company started by Aaron Sams, www.pdbyteachers.com and have written blogs for their website.
My Life
Outside of my profession, I teach yoga part time at Darling Yoga. I enjoy spending time at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri with my family during the summers. I love to play with my daughter after school, and I enjoy going to hear live music, watching comedy shows and eating out with my husband who is also an educator.
